The Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) Board of Trustees has unanimously selected Dr. Karen Molinar as the district’s next superintendent.

Dr. Molinar’s distinguished career in Fort Worth ISD spans decades, beginning in the classroom. Her commitment to the success of Fort Worth’s students, paired with her leadership abilities, has fueled her ascent through the ranks of the district. She now steps into the role of Superintendent, bringing a wealth of experience and passion for the district’s future.

“Dr. Molinar is the visionary leader we need at this pivotal moment,” Board President Roxanne Martinez said. “Her student-centered approach, deep understanding of our district’s needs, and proven leadership track record make her the ideal choice. We are confident she will lead Fort Worth ISD toward even greater achievements.”

Dr. Molinar’s leadership journey in Fort Worth ISD spans a range of impactful roles, including Deputy Superintendent (2020-2024), Chief of Staff (2018-2020), Chief of Elementary Leadership (2016-2018), and in a variety of roles that include Director, Principal, and Assistant Principal. Throughout these positions, she has consistently demonstrated a focus on student success, collaboration and a relentless commitment to educational excellence.

“I am deeply honored the board chose me to lead the district I hold so close to my heart,” Dr. Molinar said. “Fort Worth is my home, and this community is my family. This work is personal to me, as we ensure today’s students receive a high-quality education, we are also laying the foundation for future generations to benefit from the opportunities we create today.”

Dr. Molinar is committed to continuing the district’s progress, including implementing the strategic plan, creating the master facilities plan, and improving literacy rates. However, she emphasizes that success requires a united team approach.

“I am committed to fostering transparency, collaboration, and accountability as we work together, roll up their sleeves, and focus on the collective success of our students,” she said. “Together, with the support of the Board of Education and the collective strength of our community, we will make meaningful progress and create brighter futures for Fort Worth ISD students.”

Dr. Molinar earned her Doctorate in Education Administration from Texas Wesleyan University (2023), a Master’s in Education Administration from Tarleton State University (2003), a Bachelor of Science from Salisbury State University (1997), and an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Delaware Technical and Community College (1993). She is certified in Texas as a Superintendent and Principal, with additional certifications in Maryland and Delaware.

An active member of several professional organizations, Dr. Molinar actively engages with the Texas Urban Council, the Council of Great City Schools, the Texas Association of School Boards, the Texas Association of School Administrators, and the Association of Texas Professional Educators.

La distinguida trayectoria de la Dra. Molinar en Fort Worth ISD abarca décadas, comenzando en el salón de clases. Su compromiso con el éxito de los estudiantes de Fort Worth, junto con sus habilidades de liderazgo, la han llevado a ascender dentro del distrito. Ahora asume el cargo de Superintendente, aportando una gran experiencia y una profunda pasión por el futuro del distrito.

"La Dra. Molinar es la líder visionaria que necesitamos en este momento crucial", dijo la Presidenta de la Junta Escolar, Roxanne Martinez. "Su enfoque centrado en los estudiantes, su profundo conocimiento de las necesidades de nuestro distrito y su historial comprobado de liderazgo la convierten en la elección ideal. Confiamos en que guiará a Fort Worth ISD hacia logros aún mayores."

El recorrido de liderazgo de la Dra. Molinar en Fort Worth ISD incluye una variedad de roles impactantes, entre ellos, Superintendente Interina (2020-2024), Jefa de Gabinete (2018-2020), Jefa de Liderazgo en Primaria (2016-2018), además de otros cargos como Directora, Subdirectora y Directora de Departamento. A lo largo de estas funciones, ha demostrado un enfoque constante en el éxito estudiantil, la colaboración y un compromiso inquebrantable con la excelencia educativa.

"Me siento profundamente honrada de que la Junta Escolar me haya elegido para liderar el distrito que llevo tan cerca de mi corazón," expresó la Dra. Molinar. "Fort Worth es mi hogar y esta comunidad es mi familia. Este trabajo es personal para mí, ya que al garantizar que los estudiantes de hoy reciban una educación de alta calidad, también estamos sentando las bases para que las futuras generaciones se beneficien de las oportunidades que creamos hoy."

La Dra. Molinar está comprometida a continuar con el progreso del distrito, incluyendo la implementación del plan estratégico, la creación del plan maestro de instalaciones y la mejora en los niveles de alfabetización. No obstante, enfatiza que el éxito requiere un enfoque de trabajo en equipo.

"Estoy comprometida a fomentar la transparencia, la colaboración y la responsabilidad a medida que trabajamos juntos, nos ponemos manos a la obra y nos enfocamos en el éxito colectivo de nuestros estudiantes," afirmó. "Juntos, con el apoyo de la Junta Escolar y la fuerza colectiva de nuestra comunidad, lograremos avances significativos y crearemos un futuro más brillante para los estudiantes de Fort Worth ISD."

La Dra. Molinar obtuvo su Doctorado en Administración Educativa de la Universidad Texas Wesleyan (2023), una Maestría en Administración Educativa de la Universidad Estatal de Tarleton (2003), una Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Universidad Estatal de Salisbury (1997) y un Grado Asociado en Educación Infantil de Delaware Technical and Community College (1993). Está certificada en Texas como Superintendente y Directora, con certificaciones adicionales en Maryland y Delaware.
