Fort Worth ISD News

Almost every company has an IT department, which means those skills can lead students to one of the most employable job markets.

The IT Networking Choices Pathway focuses on occupations and educational opportunities associated with designing and implementing computer and information networks, such as local area networks, wide area networks, intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks. This program of study includes analysis of data processing challenges to implementing and improving computer systems.

It’s essentially how the internet works and how to get systems connected to the internet and other types of networks. The program, currently at Carter-Riverside High School, is a four-year pathway with a practicum piece in the fourth year.

For the practicum, students can apply for various internships, such as with the City of Fort Worth. Students also have the opportunity to visit the district IT department and tour facilities to learn how the department runs.

Jobs in this pathway can include network support specialist, cybersecurity analyst, networking administrator, computer administrators, and other technical support jobs.
