M.H. Moore Teacher Lizeth Gonzalez Rivera Recognized as Finalist for H-E-B Excellence in Education Award

M.H. Moore Elementary’s Lizeth Gonzalez Rivera, a passionate fifth-grade Dual Language teacher, was honored as a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, one of the most prestigious education honors in Texas. H-E-B invites customers, employees, and community members to nominate exceptional educators, administrators, and school districts across the state. Finalists like Ms. Gonzalez Rivera are selected after a rigorous review process, which includes submitting detailed applications about their professional experiences, educational philosophies, and achievements.

In a joyful moment, H-E-B representatives surprised Ms. Gonzalez Rivera in her classroom, presenting her with a $1,000 check for herself and an additional $1,000 for M.H. Moore Elementary. The event was filled with excitement, as students and staff cheered for their beloved teacher. Even the H-E-Buddy mascot joined in, making the day even more memorable.

As a finalist, Ms. Gonzalez Rivera attended the Excellence in Education Awards banquet in Houston last spring. Her recognition is a testament to the lasting impact educators have on their students and school communities.
