O.D. Wyatt and TCC-South Bond Town Hall
Description
You're invited to attend the O.D. Wyatt and TCC-South Bond Town Hall Monday, October 30 at 6:00 PM in the O.D. Wyatt auditorium.
Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner will speak to parents and community members about the upcoming November elections in a series of town hall meetings in September and October. Dr. Scribner will explain the two propositions on the ballot which includes a “Penny Swap” tax rate authorization and a $750 million bond proposal.
Dr. Scribner will discuss how these voter decisions:
- Ensure our students are college and career ready.
- Address significant growth issues with the construction of new schools and additions and
- Improve aging facilities in need of repair.
The superintendent will also explain that neither proposal will result in a tax rate increase.
The “Penny Swap” will allow the school district to receive additional funds from the state that otherwise would have not been available to the District. The bond will support the District’s commitment to college and career readiness and will include upgrades to neighborhood high schools. It will also address growth and overcrowding in specific areas as well as allow expansion of some of the District’s most successful academic programs.
This work was guided by a Long Range Facilities Master Plan advisory group made up of educators, parents, and community leaders. The group met over a period of six months and looked at what FWISD schools needed in order to meet the demands of a 21st century workplace.
For more information about the bond proposal visit the District bond website, www.fwisd.org/bond. The last day to register to vote is October 10. Early voting begins October 23 and ends November 3. Election day is November 7.
