12 Teams Named for the FWISD Whiz Quiz Playoffs


WHAT: Fort Worth ISD Whiz Quiz Semi-Finals and Finals

WHEN: 6th Grade – Tuesday, January 16, 5 p.m.

            Middle School – Wednesday, January 17 at 5 p.m.

            High School – Thursday, January 18 at 4:30 p.m.

WHERE: Fort Worth ISD Board Room, 2903 Shotts Street; also aired live on Charter Cable Channel 192 and AT&T U-Verse 99 and streamed at and YouTube

After contests this week, the Fort Worth ISD 2017-2018 Whiz Quiz is down to 12 teams:

6th Grade Matches

Semi-final 1: J.P. Elder and Daggett Montessori

Semi-final 2: McLean 6th and YWLA

Middle School Matches

Semi-final 1: William James and Daggett Montessori

Semi-final 2: Stripling and Kirkpatrick

High School Matches

Semi-final 1: Benbrook and the Texas Academy of Biomedical Science (TABS)

Semi-final 2: Paschal and Arlington Heights

Come watch the 40th Fort Worth ISD Whiz Quiz and enjoy extra sizzle. Future chefs from North Side, Trimble Tech and O.D. Wyatt high schools will serve gourmet appetizers between matches. The audience will also be treated to the sounds of the Southwest High School Jazz Quintet.

CBS11 meteorologist Jeff Jamison and Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy will serve as moderators for the matches.

The production is real-world learning for students in the District’s Advanced Media Program. They operate cameras, floor direct, host the program and more.
