Students at Meadowbrook Elementary School quizzed U.S. Rep. Kay Granger on everything from her world travels and the leaders she’s met to whether she will run for president.
Her March 2 visit to her alma mater coincided with the start to Women’s History Month and National Read Across America Day.
The congresswoman visited several classrooms with Principal Terri McGuire and FWISD school board President Tobi Jackson. She talked about her life experiences, growing up in east Fort Worth, working as a classroom teacher, owning her own business and her political career. When asked if she aspires to run for president, she responded “no.”
Rep. Granger, R-Fort Worth, attended Meadowbrook elementary and middle schools, Eastern Hills High School and Texas Wesleyan University, where she majored in education.
She went on to become a high school journalism and English teacher before opening her own insurance company. In 1991, Rep. Granger became Fort Worth’s first female mayor. She is in her 11th term as a U.S. congresswoman.
