Shining A Light at the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak MS

Fort Worth ISD’s Leadership Academy at Forest Oak Middle School will hosted its Shine a Lightshinealight1 event, Wednesday, May 2.

The school invited the community to celebrate the school’s academic achievements, community support and the city’s recent investment, an installation of more than 3,500 LED streetlights around the Forest Oak community.

At dusk, attendees walked from the school, located at 3221 Pecos St., and around the community to view the streetlights. The event concluded with a mural unveiling shining light on the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak and a prsentation to the Fort Worth City Council.

City officials, including Mayor Betsy Price, attended the event. Representatives from the Blue Zones Project promoted health and wellness at the event.

Students from the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak Middle School have tracked the progress of the streetlights, documenting the planning process and new technology that went into the project.  The students are creating a documentary detailing the streetlights’ installation before and after moments.
