Five Fort Worth ISD high school wrestlers are in Cypress this weekend for the UIL Wrestling State Tournament.
Three girls from Arlington Heights, Western Hills and Paschal high schools will compete in Class 5A and 6A matches, respectively, Friday, February 22.
Josephine Igenebgai, a junior at Paschal High, advanced to the state championship in the Division 6A- 128 lbs bracket after recently clinching the regional championship. Sophomore Amanda Diaz of Arlington Heights and Salome Stallworth, a senior at Western Hills, both finished second in regionals to qualify for state in Division 5A 110 lbs and 128 lbs brackets, respectively.
Justin Bunyyavong and Joaquin Martinez, both from Carter-Riverside High, advanced to state as alternates in the Division 5A 120 lbs and 285 lbs brackets, respectively.
