FWISD WEEK 2: Eastern Hills aiming for 2-0 start
After opening the season with an impressive road win, Eastern Hills High School looks to improve to 2-0 with Saturday night’s date against Anna at Handley Field. The Highlanders are one of 14 District teams in action in 12 games this week.
Adama Hudson accounted for three touchdowns, as Eastern Hills knocked Carrollton Newman Smith 26-13 on the road. The senior quarterback completed a sparkling 12 of 15 passes for 122 yards and two scores, while adding another TD on the ground.
The Highlanders outscored Newman Smith 20-0 in the second half after going into the break down 13-6. Running back Ronveon Johnson put the game away with a 26-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter.
Eastern Hills also collected a measure of payback after dropping a 42-14 decision to Newman Smith last year. The Highlanders hope to do the same against Anna, which won by 21 points in 2018.
A pair of nondistrict (ND) games involve two Fort Worth ISD teams squaring off, both at Clark Stadium. Western Hills faces Carter-Riverside on Friday night, with O. D. Wyatt taking on South Hills on Saturday morning. Arlington Heights has a considerably longer trek, heading to Toyota Stadium, home of FC Dallas, to tackle Frisco Lebanon Trail on Thursday night.
