Facebook Invites FWISD Seniors, Parents, and Teachers to Be Part of May 15 Streaming Event Online

Facebook invites Fort Worth ISD seniors, parents, and teachers to send videos and photos to this link by Wednesday, May 6 to be part of a celebrity-filled online celebration scheduled for May 15.

Seniors are asked to say who they are and where they are from and give a shout out to their high school.  Parents and teachers are encouraged express pride in their students or share a few words of wisdom for the graduates.

“On Friday, May 15, Facebook and Instagram will proudly present an event to honor the incredible Class of 2020 and we are inviting schools across the country to be a part of it,” said Matt SextonCommunity Development Regional Manager for Facebook, who personally extended the invitation to FWISD seniors and their families and teachers.

This multi-hour streaming event will feature a commencement address by Oprah Winfrey, along with special tributes to the graduates from Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X, and Simone Biles, to name a few.

Facebook recently helped underwrite the cost of a $1.3M purchase of Wi-Fi hotspots for students with a $500,000 donation.  The company has been part of the Fort Worth community since 2015 when they broke ground on their 2.5 million square foot data center.
