FWISD Community Partner Recognized As Star-Telegram Hometown Hero

The Fort Worth ISD is especially grateful for community partners like Broadway Baptist Church that have assisted the District in helping families through the coronavirus pandemic.

Since March, FWISD has partnered with multiple organizations to share information, distribute clothes and books to school-aged children and to organize food pickup events for families.

Recently, Alma Pohler, a specialist with FWISD’s Family Communications Department, nominated Broadway Baptist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Hometown Heroes series. Sponsored by Lockheed Martin, Hometown Heroes are featured weekly in the Star-Telegram and recognized with $1,000.

The church was essential in distributing food and other resources to FWISD families unable to physically visit a food distribution site.

“If it weren’t for Broadway Baptist, what would these families have done,” Mrs. Pohler asked in a recent Star-Telegram article. “Without partners like Broadway, it would be much more difficult to get food to them.”
