Eastern Hills School Pyramid Collects More Than 10,000 Food Items

(Friday, December 18, 2020) -- The Eastern Hills High School pyramid joined forces to collect more than 10,000 items of food for eastside families in need this holiday season. The 12 school principals enlisted the help of students, families and faculty to collect the food in less than two-week’s time.

The FWISD Family Action Center arranged for the food to be donated to Eastside Community Assistance (formerly Eastside Ministries). This 501(c) 3 organization annually serves more than 25,000 eastside individuals and families living within the EHHS and Dunbar attendance zones.

Helping fill the ECA truck to overflowing were students and adult members of the My Brothers’ Keeper initiative led by Rickie Clark along with EHHS basketball players. ECA’s board members estimate the food will help support many food-insecure eastside families well into January.

Schools participating in the event included Eastern Hills H.S., middle schools Meadowbrook, Handley and McClung, and elementary schools Sagamore Hill, Meadowbrook, Eastern Hills, W. Handley, E. Handley, Atwood-McDonald, Bill J. Elliott and Lowery Road.
