Studio DHJ Hosts World-Renowned Landscape Architect

design1On Monday, September 27, Studio DHJ - The DREAM Factory! the architecture program hosted world-renowned Landscape Architect, Ms. Kathryn Gustafson, as a part of the Studio DHJ VIP Guest Speaker Series.  Ms. Gustafson came back into the classroom virtually from Paris, France, and shared with the students for an hour and a half her projects, experience, and provided over 60 students great advice about career, life, and following their dreams!  
Ms. Gustafson is an American Landscape Architect who founded her firm GGN with offices in Seattle, Washington, Washington D.C., Paris, France, and London England.  Some of her projects include the Gardens of the Imagination, a City Square, and most notable the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park London.  In 2019, Ms. Gustafson was awarded the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award by the International Federation of Landscape Architects.  This is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Landscape Architect.  
During the time spent with the students, she answered several questions created by the students based on their research assignment given to them by their teacher Mr. Alan Hilsabeck, PLTW, CTE, GT, ESL.  One of the questions was about the importance of her work and sharing it with students.  Ms. Gustafson answered by saying, "I feel that it is important to inspire the kids in helping build the next generation of Landscape Architects, I am at the end of my career and the kids are just at the beginning of theirs."  Studio DHJ and the students from all of the Architecture Classes, P-TECH, and Construction classes thanked Ms. Gufstason for her appearance with a warm DHJ applause.
