Expo to Showcase STEM Disciplines
Opportunities in the areas of STEM awareness, careers, summer camp resources and scholarships will be on full display at the first Fort Worth ISD STEM Expo 2018 this Saturday, March 3.
The entire community is invited to Dunbar High School, 5700 Ramey Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to explore pathways relating to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Superintendent Kent P. Scribner is scheduled to welcome expo guests, and Linda O’Brien of Lockheed Martin is expected to speak at the event. The national and junior honor society clubs from Southwest and North Side high schools and Monnig and Kirkpatrick middle schools are facilitating STEM Challenge Stations at the expo.
For the District’s youngest learners, a STEM story time is being provided through GROW, a collaborative of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) and the Fort Worth Botanic Garden that offers residents education and volunteer opportunities in nature and science.
Expo organizers say they hope the event sparks interest among families choosing a STEM focus for their child’s education.
