FWISD alumnus and esteemed Broadway performer Major Attaway, renowned for his outstanding stage presence, TV/film, and voice acting, is returning to his alma mater to conduct an exclusive Musical Theater Masterclass for FWISD theater students on September 20, 2023.
Major Attaway will bring his expertise and passion for musical theater to aspiring young performers from Arlington Heights HS and I.M. Terrell Academy. This exciting and unique opportunity will allow students to learn from a seasoned professional who has graced the Broadway stage in notable productions like Disney’s “Aladdin.” In 2016, Attaway took over the Tony Award-winning role of Genie, and now he is currently the longest running Broadway Genie with more than 1,500 performances! He also played Fatty Arbuckle in NYCC Encores production of “Mack and Mabel.”
As a Voice Actor, he has voiced more than 30 characters in anime, video games, museum exhibits, narrations, and teaching materials.
With such a diverse experience in the arts, Attaway’s masterclass will offer students the chance to explore various facets of musical theater. Students will gain invaluable insights into the industry and learn about essential skills needed for success on the stage.
Major Attaway received the Irma P. Hall Medal for Illumination in 2018 and was inducted into FWISD’s Wall of Fame in 2019.
