Explore the Globe As An Exchange Student
Explore new cultures traveling the world as a Fort Worth Sister Cities International exchange student.
The nonprofit is currently accepting applications for its 2020 Youth Ambassador Exchange program. Between March and June 2020, exchange students will travel to Fort Worth sister cities in Hungary, France, Italy, Mexico, Germany, China and Japan. Applications are also being accepted for a youth exchange to Mbabane, eSwaini, slated for June 2021.
High school-aged students interested in participating in the Youth Ambassador Exchange must submit an application to Fort Worth Sister Cities International by Friday, October 18.
Youth Ambassador Exchanges
Students selected as a youth ambassador for one of the eight exchanges will have an opportunity, according to Fort Worth Sister Cities International, to:
- Participate in a U.S. Department of State recognized program;
- Meet local officials in Fort Worth and the exchange city they’re visiting;
- “Volunteer on projects emphasizing global community service;”
- Share Texas culture and promote Fort Worth abroad;
- “Explore and gain an understanding of different cultures while making life-lasting friendships.”
Approximate exchange costs range from $1,700 to $3,800 and include round-trip airfare, taxes, ground transportation, lodging, program fees, most meals, local excursions, day trips, insurance and orientation materials.
Three scholarship opportunities are available for exchange student participants.
Students will be required to submit a $25 student membership fee, their last report card, recommendations from two teachers and an essay on why they want to be a youth ambassador with their application.
