Families Attend Selective College Admissions Family Workshop, Fair

Representatives from Pathways to Selective College offered Fort Worth ISD high school students and their families a series of programs focusing on obtaining acceptance into highly-competitive colleges and universities,Thursday, October 25.

The organization hosted panels at 10 FWISD high schools that included delegates from:

  • Brown University
  • Princeton University
  • Johns Hopkins University
  • The Ohio State University
  • Franklin and Marshall College
  • Dickinson College
  • Swarthmore College
  • Wofford College
  • Pomona College
  • Pepperdine University
  • Emory University

Participating high schools included:

  • I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA
  • TCC South Collegiate
  • Young Women’s Leadership Academy
  • Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences
  • Young Men’s Leadership Academy
  • World Languages Institute
  • Southwest
  • Eastern Hills
  • Oscar Dean Wyatt
  • Paul Laurence Dunbar

Pathways to Selective College also hosted a Workshop and Fair, open to parents, at the Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus Energy Auditorium.

“This is the first year for The Pathways to Selective Colleges event,” said Richard Johnson, Family Communications specialist. “The main purpose for this ‘tour’ is to help students gain insight on the attainability of schools they may have at one time thought was out of reach.”
