Oh So Sweet!

 

The results are in, and they can’t “bee” beat!

Six Fort Worth ISD students are qualifiers for the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee this March. More than 90 students competed in the FWISD Areas 1-6 Spelling Bee contests Jan. 29-31, and each area champion is buzzing with possibility into the regional competition, Tuesday, March 5 at Texas Christian University (TCU).

They are:

Area 1: Jordan Perez, eighth grade, Meacham Middle School

Area 2: Anakaren Aguilar, fifth grade, Meadowbrook Elementary School

Area 3: Jayden Williams, eighth grade, McClung Middle School

Area 4: Grace Kim, seventh grade, Benbrook Middle-High School

Area 5: ​​Nant Thaw, seventh grade, Applied Learning Academy

Area 6: Hunter Vaughn, sixth grade, McLean Sixth Grade Center

Regional qualifiers will swarm into TCU this March vying for the chance to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee this May in Maryland. The six area runner-ups can compete as alternates.  

Last month, 93 FWISD elementary and middle school students participated in the district's Areas 1-6 Spelling Bees hosted at the district’s  M.G. Ellis facility (View a video recap at www.fwisd.org/spellingbee and event photos here). Schools for the area bee contests are grouped by the district’s geographic regions.
