UNCF Employee Giving Campaign starts Feb. 16 with Breakfast Rally
Fort Worth ISD will begin its 2018 UNCF Employee Giving Campaign with a kickoff breakfast rally on Friday, February 16.
The rally is slated from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the FWISD Professional Development Center, Room 108, 3150 McCart Ave. All UNCF coordinators and supporters are encouraged to attend and show their college spirit by wearing apparel representing a college, historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) or a Greek-letter organization.
Employees may contribute from February 16 to March 19 to support scholarships for deserving FWISD seniors who plan to attend school at a UNCF member institution or a historically black college or university.
During the 2016-2017 campaign, FWISD employees contributed approximately $40,000 for UNCF scholarships.
UNCF, also known as the United Negro College Fund, for more than seven decades has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships annually, supported HBCUs and advocated for “the importance of minority education and community engagement,” according to the organization’s website.
Energetic and enthusiastic employees are being asked to serve as department and campus UNCF coordinators. The person will be responsible for spearheading their department or campus fundraising efforts.
UNCF coordinators must be registered online no later than Wednesday, February 14.
For more details, contact Dr. Stacy M. Burrell, the FWISD campaign coordinator, at 817-814-1850 or by email at academic.advisement@fwisd.org or contact Cortney Lewis Smith, UNCF representative, at 972-234-1007 or by emailing Cortney.lewis@uncf.org.
