Paschal HS to Host No More Symposium March 6 at TCU
Paschal High School is hosting the “No More Symposium,” a discussion bringing together teens, parents, caregivers and adults who work with youth to discuss stress, anxiety, social media and their links to suicide.
The conversation will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Brown-Lupton University Union Auditorium on the campus of Texas Christian University, 2901 Stadium Drive.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, suicide is the third leading cause of death among youth ages 10-24. According to the organization, 1-in-5 children between ages 13 and 18 have or will live with a serious mental illness.
The No More Symposium will educate attendees on how to manage stress and anxiety or help those around them experiencing the aforementioned characteristics. Symposium guests will discuss what behavioral signs to look for in a suicidal person and hear the testimonials of students and teachers who’ve struggled with mental health. A student art gallery depicting what “No More” suicide means will be on display throughout the event. At the end of the symposium, guests will receive a bag with local resources relating to emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing.
Middle- and high school- aged students are welcome to attend. Topics discussed may be unsuitable for younger audiences, and parental discretion is advised.
Parking is available in the Frog Alley Parking Garage, 2820 Stadium Drive.
