What are our GT students doing at Waverly Park?

Our 2nd and 3rd grade students discussed seven habits that make a great leader. We used the book “7 Habits of Happy Kids” by Sean Covey to guide our lesson. We wanted to enable students with leadership skills that are not only for current use in their academic and personal lives, but will also be handy as they continue to grow and transform into our world’s future leaders.

The 4th and 5th graders discussed different leaders and what makes them effective, along with goal setting strategies. We put students in leadership roles during various high pressure activities and then discussed what leadership styles they used and what was effective. We also did a few activities on goal setting and discussed why it is important for leaders to have goals. 

We really enjoyed doing these activities with your students, and look forward to our next visit during the 3rd six weeks.
