Will Now Serve K-Fifth Grade Students

Saturday Learning Quest is back!

These targeted learning opportunities for academic growth and social-emotional support will take place over 14 Saturdays in the 2022-23 school year. But this year, we are expanding the opportunities – and Fort Worth ISD students from Kindergarten through fifth grade are eligible!

Once again, students will take part in a day of rigorous, active instruction in literacy and math designed around engaging themes.

The sessions are designed to accelerate academic success, and preliminary data suggests there is a direct correlation between SLQ participation and academic gains.

“Last year, students who attended SLQ at least 70% of the time saw marked improvement in reading and math,” said Fort Worth ISD Chief Academic Officer Marcey Sorensen. “That’s why we are excited to announce we are adding three grades – Kindergarten, fourth and fifth-grades—to this program.”

Young learners will also enjoy enrichment opportunities such as classes in art and music, and physical activities. In addition, the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program has been expanded at each campus so more students can participate in these activities.

At least once a month, there will be incentive prizes for attendance as well as giveaways of books and other academic materials.

Free transportation is available and students will receive breakfast and lunch each Saturday.

Parents may apply for SLQ here

While children are involved with their activities, Saturday Learning Quest will also offer family support via Parent Academy sessions for interested parents. You can find more information on the SLQ website
