FWISD Observes Education Go Get It Week
Themed attire days, fun class activities and visits from college and military representatives and mascots is how some schools across the Fort Worth ISD are observing Education Go Get It Week.
Celebrated September 10-14, the annual event informs FWISD students about post-secondary education opportunities available to them including college, military and vocational training.
Statewide campaigns for Education Go Get Week are focusing on college applications and financial aid awareness.
This week, FWISD counselors, college and career coaches, and teachers are highlighting the importance of higher education by:
- Spotlighting college and career information;
- Providing presentations that help students plan for college and understand the basics of admissions and financial aid;
- Welcoming speakers from local colleges and universities to share information and answer questions.
Additional activities taking place at schools across FWISD this week include career contests, college bulletin board decorations, students creating a career aspiration wall, college pennants designed by students, a scholarship discussion with eighth-graders about their importance and where to find them and popcorn and a movie on first-generation college students at one middle school. At the high school level, students this week are completing college applications and researching pathways for their desired careers, taking college tours and participating in discussions with college, university and military representatives.
Education Go Get It Week continues through Friday, September 14.
