Teacher of the Year

Westpark’s Teacher of the Year Mrs. Plunkett along with 128 Campus Teachers of the Year were honored with a reception at the Kimbell Art Museum last week.

The reception was hosted by Central Market and supported by other community partners. The event was held in the Piano Pavilion, with a student orchestra, hors d’oeuvres, and door prizes. The musical entertainment was provided by the I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM & VPA Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Hunter Lewis.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 5 finalists for the District Elementary Teacher of the Year. Among this short list was our very own, Mrs. Plunkett!

Of the 129 Campus Teachers of the Year, 88 submitted applications for District Teacher of the Year. A committee of retired and current educators reviewed and evaluated the applications and selected the 10 finalists, 5 Elementary and 5 Secondary.

In mid-April, these finalists will advance to the next phase of the District Teacher of the Year selection process, which includes a panel interview. The District Teacher of the Year panel interviews will determine the two winners, one Elementary and one Secondary District Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations Mrs. Plunkett on this amazing accomplishment!
