Highlanders Compete in the Visual Art Scholastic Event
Last Saturday Eastern Hills High School competed in the only Visual Fine Arts UIL art event for the academic year; Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE.)
VASE is a gargantuan gathering of student artists from north Texas contesting at the Regional level. From the ten school districts that competed, 2165 students vied to qualify for State level which is alternatively held in Austin or San Antonio.
Of the 2000 odd students, only 159 students qualified for State. Eastern Hills High School will proudly be represented by one student; an International student from Nigeria, Joseph Odukogbe (AKA Tobi....pictured with the multi-striped badge.)
We sent a delegation of 17 students, 11 of whom won regionals. The following students (some pictured above) won regionals in their respective divisions.
Ja'Kendrick Ball- Division 1
Jordan Adams- Division 2
Alyssa Hernandez- Division 3
A special expression of gratitude and thanks to Ms Nakamoto and Mr Williams for sacrificing their time and energy in escorting and uplifting the student's spirits.
The Visual Arts Department would be grateful if you congratulated the aforementioned students and the others pictured in the group photo. Especially wish Joseph "Tobi" Odukogbe all the best for the State competition come 24th April.
