FWISD Considers Secondary School Transfer Requests
(Monday, April 20, 2021) -- The Fort Worth ISD secondary school transfer request window for the 2021-2022 academic year has officially closed.
Throughout the remainder of the current school year, secondary principals are addressing staffing needs and campus enrollment for the upcoming academic year. Families who submitted a transfer request application by the March 31, 2021 deadline will be contacted once a campus decision is made on their application.
Transfer assignments will be granted at various times through the end of the 2020-2021 school year, with final decisions made no later than June 18, 2021.
From March 1-31, families had an opportunity to apply for their first and second transfer choices. This year, the District implemented a computer-generated lottery system, similar to its Gold Seal Programs and Schools of Choice process, that will be utilized to admit transfers. Parents could request a transfer from their child’s home school to another campus, where space is available.
During the transfer request application period, the District accepted Public Education Grant (PEG) transfers from low-performing schools. Students from a PEG campus could not transfer to another low-performing school.
A transfer, once made, shall remain in effect as long as the student is in the same school. Parents will be responsible for transporting their child if granted a general transfer.
