Exhaust from idling vehicles can accumulate and pose a health risk to faculty, students and drivers. Exposure to exhaust can cause lung damage, respiratory problems and increase the risk of lung cancer, especially in young children. Also, exhaust exacerbates asthma and existing allergies in young children. Idling vehicles waste fuel and contribute to climate change and ground level ozone. Overall, idling is detrimental for individual health, the economy and the environment. With the administration’s approval, the Green Team created a No Idling campaign. We ask that when you are dropping off or picking up your children, please turn off your vehicle. You will see NO-IDLE ZONE signs along Lipscomb and Jessamine to remind you to turn off your vehicle while waiting at school. Thanks!
