Art Students Win Recognition

Please congratulate Trinity Icishatse, his artwork was selected as a top 10 finalist in the One Safe Place Art Contest, "Imagine No Violence." Each year more than 40,000 area students participate. The title for Trinity's work is WatchingIt's a self-portrait about overcoming the uncomfortable feeling of being watched while starting to feel comfortable around people he knows and people he doesn't know. The medium used was pencil.

Please congratulate Juliet Anaya and Betzabeth Torres when you see them.  Juliet received a first-place ribbon for her painting "Rainy Day" at the District Art show last night and Betzabeth received a first-place ribbon for her sculpture of a whimsical house.  I am proud of their hard work this year and contribution to the Art Department.
