STEERS Girls Basketball

Varsity Girls Basketball pulled out an overtime win after overcoming a 13-point half-time deficit to beat South Hills 38-31. JV Girls defeated South Hills 30-27 on Friday night as well. 
I want to give a shoutout to all these girls today. Our numbers are low right now given everything that's been thrown at us this year, but these girls are hanging in there with teamwork and straight up determination.

Congratulations to your Varsity Girls Basketball team for defeating Polytech last night 52-9!
Sophomore Vianey Facundo picked up 17 rebounds and put in 10 points. Junior Jahtziri Valdez got 12 steals and added 12 points. And Junior Dora Leija was high point with 14!
We travel to South Hills on Friday.

Both the JV and Varsity girls' basketball teams defeated South Hills last night in our district opener. 
Varsity won 41-39 (Third win in a row!!) with top scorer Jr Jillian Montero putting up 11 followed by Jr Jahtziri Valdez with 9, Soph Alexia Ponce with 8, and Jr Dora Leija with 7. 
Next up Arlington Heights at their place this Friday!

Your Varsity Girls Basketball team beat Carter Riverside on Friday night, 41-35. Jr. Jahtziri Valdez led the team's scoring with 16 points. Soph Vianey Facundo pulled down 11 rebounds. Jr. Dora Leija contributed 6 points and 4 assists. It was a beautiful team effort for a second win in a row.
District starts Tuesday at home against South Hills. Go Steers!
