The Fort Worth ISD is partnering with Tarrant Area Food Bank to host two additional mobile food distribution events for families impacted by recent winter weather, February 19-22.
In addition to the weekly Mega Mobile Market, held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday at FWISD’s Herman Clark Stadium, two additional food distributions will take place at the stadium this week – 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 20 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, February 22. Herman Clark Stadium is located at 5201 CA Roberson Blvd.
All three events are open to the public and will provide fresh, nutritious food on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The City of Fort Worth will move its overnight shelter at the Convention Center to other locations, on Friday, February 19, for families who are still without power. Transportation will be provided for guests moving from the convention center to the new overnight sites. The city has also provided details about area warming locations open to residents without electrical power. For more information about area organizations and businesses that have opened their doors as warming stations, visit the city's closure page at https://www.fortworthtexas.gov/closures.
It is recommended that residents call before traveling to these locations. Times and availability are different for each facility. COVID-19 screening will be done before entering the building, and COVID-19 protocols will be in place.
The Tarrant Area Food Bank has announced that their regular food distribution sites are not all open. Call 817-857-7100 or visit their Facebook for updates on emergency mobile markets and additional mega mobile markets that supply up to 100 pounds of fresh produce, protein, milk, and pantry staples.
