The Future of Healthcare is in Good Hands with the Newest Gary Manny Scholarship Recipient

The Fort Worth ISD is pleased to announce Diem Nguyen of Trimble Tech HS as the newest Gary Manny Scholarship recipient.

The scholarship, valued at $2,000, is a merit-based award named after Gary Manny, a lifelong Fort Worth resident. Mr. Manny was elected to serve District 5 on the Fort Worth ISD Board of Education in 1986.  In 1988, he was elected Board President. The current Central Administration building bears his namesake.

High school seniors that win this award must meet the following criteria:

  • GPA – 3.0 minimum
  • Essay
  • Transcript
  • SAT/ACT score(s)
  • Letters of recommendation (2)
  • Extracurricular activities and community service

In her pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in nursing, winning this scholarship will allow Diem the opportunity to pursue her passions in the medical field without the financial constraints that might otherwise hold her back.

In her own words, she states, “As a Vietnamese native, I’ve experienced the struggles of poverty. Coming from a low-income household, I understand the perspective of how immigrant families struggle with fulfilling medical assistance. Gaining a nursing degree will help me give my community a standard of human dignity.”

The District wishes Diem continued success in her academic journey.
