DHJ Alum Recognized As Exemplary Volunteer
Tony Cuestas, a 2008 alumnus of Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School, was recently recognized by the Board of Education for being an exemplary volunteer.
Mr. Cuestas, who has volunteered more than five years at his alma mater and Meacham Middle School, was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Family Communications Department at the December 11 board meeting.
Volunteer work for Mr. Cuestas runs the gamut from working sporting events and chaperoning the DHJ fan bus to participating with the Fort Worth Code Blue at School Program, a volunteer group that patrols near FWISD schools.
Maggie Diaz, DHJ school secretary, calls him “hardworking, dedicated … always willing to give more of himself.”
Principal James Garcia echoed those sentiments.
“Tony Cuestas is a vital part of the Diamond Hill staff and community,” he said. “He works tirelessly directing traffic in the mornings and afternoons at Diamond Hill and Meacham as parents are dropping off students. He does all of this as a volunteer.”
