First Day of School for FWISD: Greeting Students, Meeting Parents, and Thanking Teachers
Watch the Video
Monday, August 15, was the first day of school for Fort Worth ISD students. It was also the last first day for approximately 4,700 seniors – and for Superintendent Kent P. Scribner, who has announced he will retire on August 31.
Dr. Scribner started the day at TCC South Collegiate High School, one of the District’s 15 early college high schools or P-Tech academies. He, along with Mayor Mattie Parker, Police Chief Neil Noakes, and Board of Education Trustee Wallace Bridges, greeted students, visited with some parents, and gave high praise to teachers and staff. Interestingly, seven years ago the ribbon-cutting at South Collegiate was one of Dr. Scribner’s first events as superintendent.
Dr. Scribner also visited with students and staff at Rufino Mendoza Elementary School and Leonard Middle School.
This video captures some of the excitement of a very smooth “first day” for the Fort Worth ISD and for Dr. Scribner!
