1-to-1 Student Devices Available for FWISD 6th-12th Graders
All Fort Worth ISD middle and high students are eligible for a District-issued digital device this school year.
Students are not required to pay a fee to obtain the electronic device as long as they do not owe for a previously checked-out device. Students are responsible for replacing any lost, stolen, or maliciously damaged equipment.
Parents must give permission for their child to use the District-issued digital devices when completing online registration.
Mobile hotspots
Additionally, secondary students will have the opportunity to access mobile hotspots that they can use at home to complete homework, projects, and other educational related tasks.
Students at the high school level with no or shared access to high-speed internet at home will be considered for the mobile hotspots through the Sprint 1 Million Project. Students at the middle school level with no or shared access to high-speed internet at home will be considered for the mobile hotspots through the T-Mobile EmpowerED initiative. Both the 1 Million Project and EmpowerED initiative offer free hotspots to students who do not have reliable Internet access at home.
Fort Worth ISD will identify secondary students without or with reduced Internet connectivity at home through online registration documents. It is very important that parents complete the online registration process as soon as possible so the District can place its first hotspot order. The first hotspot order will be created this month.
Prior to receiving the digital devices, students and their parents are encouraged to review Digital Citizenship materials via Common Sense Media’s Family Engagement Resources at https://www.commonsense.org/education/toolkit/family-engagement-resources.
