Fort Worth, Texas - More than 2,000 alumni and guests were treated to a very special “Century Celebration” at Green B. Trimble Technical High School on Saturday, October 22. This once-in-a-lifetime event included guest speakers; national, state, and local proclamations and recognition; a commemorative alumni photo; and a special cake prepared by students in the school’s culinary arts program.
The festivities began in the auditorium with numerous speakers congratulating the school for its success in preparing students for college and careers over the last century. After the presentations, alumni gathered on the front steps of the school for a special photo to mark the occasion. The school then held alumni receptions throughout the building for graduates from the 1950s through the current decade. There were also receptions for men’s and women’s athletics, the band program, culinary arts, ROTC, and a cheer and dance reception.
Speakers at the opening ceremony included Fort Worth ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kent Scribner; FWISD School Board President Jacinto Ramos; Paul Galvan, who was the campus principal from 1979-1995; Sylvia Wilson, Trimble Tech High School Class of 1972, who represented State Representative Nicole Collier, District 95 and fellow alumni; and Fort Worth City Council Member, District 9, Ann Zadeh.
There were many resolutions, recognitions, and proclamations to commemorate the school’s milestone, including a Letter of Special Congressional Recognition from U.S. Representative Kay Granger; State of Texas Recognition Letter from Governor Greg Abbott; State of Texas Resolution from State Representative Nicole Collier; and a City of Fort Worth Proclamation read by Fort Worth Councilmember Ann Zadeh.
This event was made possible through the hard work of the 100th Celebration Committee. The committee chair was Trimble Tech High School teacher and coach Mark Thomas. Other members of the planning committee were alumni from the classes of 1958 – 1962 and Principal E. Omar Ramos.
