Get Ready for FWISD Whiz Quiz!

Fort Worth, Texas - It’s time once again for students to show off their mental muscle. The fast, fun, fiercely competitive Fort Worth ISD Whiz Quiz semi-finals and finals are back for the 39th year!

Here are the times and dates for this year’s competitions:

6th Grade – Monday, December 5, 2016, at 5 p.m.

  • Match #1 – Stripling Middle School vs. Meadowbrook Middle School
  • Match #2 – Daggett Montessori vs. McLean 6th Grade
  • Finals Match – Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2

Middle School – Wednesday, December 7 at 5 p.m.

  • Match #1 – Daggett Montessori vs. Benbrook  Middle School
  • Match #2 – Stripling Middle School vs. McLean Middle School
  • Finals Match  - Winner of Match #1 vs. Winner of Match #2

High School – Thursday, December 8 at 4:30 p.m.

  • Match #1 – Paschal High Schools vs. Texas Academy of Biomedical Sciences
  • Match #2 – Arlington Heights High School vs. Southwest High School
  • Finals Match – Winner of Match #1 vs. Winner of Match #2

The production is real-world learning for students in the Gold Seal Advanced Media Program at Southwest and Polytechnic High Schools. They operate cameras, floor direct, host the program, and fill other important production roles.

Mariachi students from North Side High School will entertain the audience between breaks. Gold Seal Culinary Arts students from Trimble Tech, South Hills and North Side High Schools will prepare appetizers to serve the audience after the first match on each of the three nights. Kroger is generously donating all the ingredients.

CBS11 meteorologist Jeff Jamison will serve as moderator for the matches. Mr. Jamison is a graduate of Western Hills High School and a former Whiz Quiz competitor.
