2020 North Central Texas “Game of Drones” Showcase
What: A Regional Aerial Robotics showcase of student demonstrations and competition teams from students in Region 11 districts. Superintendents will be invited to participate in a “Game of Drones” challenge.
When: Thursday, February 27, 2020; 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Where: Wilkerson-Greines Activity Center, 5201 C.A. Roberson Blvd., Fort Worth
Summary: The 2020 North Central Texas Aerial Robotics Showcase (“Game of Drones”) is organized by the North Central Texas (NCTX) Aerial Robotics STEM Initiative which is a regional network of educators and employers to develop Aerial Robotics STEM pathways. Industry partners collaborating in this venture include Bell, Tarrant Community College District, Tarrant County Workforce, and Interlink.
The NCTX Aerial Robotics Collaborative is one of 10 groups in Texas awarded a TEA grant establishing the Texas Regional Pathways Network (TRPN). This “Game of Drones” event will showcase student demonstrations and competition teams from students in Region 11 districts. Superintendents are also invited to try their hand a flying drones in a challenger of their aerial talents.
Fort Worth ISD is spearheading the initiative which includes 10 school districts, ranging in size from 176 to more than 83,000 students. The partnering districts include:

- Azle ISD
- Birdville ISD
- Crowley ISD
- Grapevine-Colleyville ISD
- Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD
- Keller ISD
- Cleburne ISD
- Era ISD
- Strawn ISD
- Arlington ISD
- Northwest ISD
- Mineral Wells ISD
There will also be guest speakers, dancing drones and a jazz band to add to the excitement. Through this initiative, the key stakeholders are developing curriculum, engaging in professional development, and providing opportunities for students to build knowledge and skills in an emerging industry.
