The Power of Giving at David K. Sellars Elementary

What: The Power of Giving

When: Friday, January 27, 2017, 2 p.m.

Where: David K. Sellars Elementary School, 4200 Dorsey St., Forest Hill

Summary: On Friday, January 27, there will be a celebration of the Power of Giving at Fort Worth ISD’s David K. Sellars Elementary School. Late last year the Sellars Elementary family were the leading donors in a regional canned food drive.

Four years ago, the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. began an annual canned food drive with just two schools. Each year more schools became interested and heavily involved in the project.

In 2016, 24 schools participated with a goal of collecting 3,000 can goods per school. Sellars Elementary collected more canned goods than any other school – 5,483 items! That generosity, combined with all other schools, pushed the total drive to 90,112 goods collected.

On Friday, Principal Steven Mattic and his school will be honored by KAP, the Community Food Bank, the Fort Worth ISD, the City of Forest Hill and the Dallas Mavericks.
