Fort Worth Nissan Announces New Creative Writing Scholarship Competition

Fort Worth ISD seniors can showcase their writing skills to be considered for a new college scholarship. Fort Worth Nissan is offering two scholarships to deserving, graduating Fort Worth ISD seniors who plan to attend a two-year or four-year college, university, or technical school.

This first annual Fort Worth Nissan Creative Writing Scholarship Competition will award a $5,000 scholarship for first place and a $2,500 scholarship for second place. The top 10 finalist essays will be published in West FW Lifestyle Magazine.

Fort Worth Nissan is dedicated to the local community and wants to ensure that students of Fort Worth have the opportunity for a post-secondary education. They created this new scholarship to provide financial assistance to students who are pursuing their college education.

Students who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to submit their essays:

  • Applicant must be a current Fort Worth ISD high school senior
  • Applicant must plan to enroll in a two-year or four-year year college, university or technical school
  • Applicant must demonstrate a financial need
  • Applicant must submit a 500-750 word essay addressing the following question:

As a teen, how do you talk to your friends, parents and even your siblings about the very real dangers of reckless and distracted driving?

There is a deadline for this scholarship competition. Students must complete their applications and submit their essays online no later than Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Scholarship winners will be announced in May. There will be an awards ceremony May 20, 2017, where winners will receive their scholarships. Details will be included in an award letter.
