Paschal High School students, parents, and community members will dance the night away as three jazz bands play swing music at the school’s “Big Band Dance.” Paschal Director of Bands Bryan Wright promises a fun night and encourages everyone to attend.
“The Big Band Dance is Paschal Band's largest fundraiser and we’ve been hosting this for about 15 years,” Wright said. “This event is sponsored by the Paschal Band Boosters and benefits all the band programs at Paschal, including marching, color guard, concert, and jazz. If your student is in band, they will benefit.”
While the annual event always attracts a crowd, Mr. Wright said the dance is extra special this year because the Paschal High School band program has reached a milestone. “We want students, parents, teachers and community members to gather and enjoy great music while supporting a band program that is celebrating its 95th year in 2017.”
The swing dance will feature continuous live music by the award-winning Paschal Jazz Band students. The annual event attracts students, parents, grandparents, and even siblings. Anyone who loves jazz music and Paschal High School is welcome to attend. A special guest for the evening will be Principal Terri Mossige.
Between dances, attendees can bid on silent auction items to help raise funds for Paschal band programs. Items for auction include bed and breakfast getaways, museum vouchers, jewelry, and more.
Mr. Wright said this unique event is aligned with the District’s mission of preparing all students for success in college, career, and community leadership. “Our students have the opportunity to play music in a professional setting while supporting arts in our community.”
