Education Foundation Awards $26,000 in Scholarships

The Fort Worth ISD Education Foundation awarded $26,000 in scholarships to 17 graduating seniors, including a $10,000 first-in-family scholarship to Western Hills senior Alison Villasana.

The Education Foundation’s inaugural Academic Distinction scholarships were funded by donations from FWISD faculty and staff through the Foundation’s scholarship giving campaign.

All graduating students were eligible for the scholarships, with winners representing 9 different high schools.

“All of these students have excelled academically and will represent their schools and Fort Worth with distinction in their college pursuits,” said Mike West, president of the Fort Worth ISD Education Foundation. “A core part of the Foundation’s mission is recognizing outstanding achievement, and rewarding it with resources to move to the next level, and the generosity of the district’s faculty and staff demonstrates their commitment to their students.”

The Foundation’s Academic Distinction scholarships are awarded based on high school academic achievement. The first-in-family scholarship recognizes a student achieving the milestone of being the first in family to study at the collegiate level.
