Meadowbrook Elementary Hosts Native American Blessing of the Buffalo Ceremony to Dedicate New Artwork
Eddie Sandoval, a member of the Apache Nation, met with Meadowbrook Elementary School students the morning of Sept 22 to explain the buffalo’s role in Native American culture. He also led a blessing ceremony in front of the school to dedicate new buffalo artwork. The buffalo is the school mascot.
Mr. Sandoval discussed the importance of the buffalo to Native American people and explained the blessing ceremony.
All students, teachers, parents and community members were invited to the front of the school for the Native American ceremony to bless the new buffalo artwork. The East Fort Worth Business Association donated metal buffalo sculptures to the school.
The West Meadowbrook Neighborhood Association hosted a reception in the library for all visitors following the ceremony.
