Four FWISD bands Advance to area Band Competition

Four Fort Worth ISD high school band programs are advancing to the University Interscholastic League Area B 5A Marching Band Contest this Saturday, October 28, at the Little Elm ISD Athletic Complex,1151 E. Eldorado Parkway in Little Elm.

On Oct. 17, programs from Carter Riverside, Southwest, Trimble Tech and Western Hills high schools received Superior first-division ratings at the Region V Marching contest hosted at Mansfield Athletic Complex.

  • The Carter Riverside Band, directed by Cody Haddock and Rosendo Sanchez is slated to perform at 10 a.m.
  • Trimble Tech, directed by Earnest Colvin, is scheduled for a 11:30 a.m. performance.
  • Southwest High, led by Jeff DeMaagd, Henry McCoy, Christa White and Emmanuel Flores, is slated to take the field at 2:45 p.m.
  • Western Hills, led by Meggan Hinds and Jessica Piechotta, is slated to perform at 3:30 p.m.

The two highest ranking bands at Saturday’s Area B 5A Marching Band Contest will advance to the UIL State Marching Band Championship, Nov. 8 at San Antonio’s Alamodome.

Marching bands from classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 5A will advance to the state finals this year. Class 4A and 6A state finals are held in alternating years.
