FWISD Gold Seal Applications Due December 1
Fort Worth ISD officials will receive applications from students interested in participating in a FWISD Gold Seal Program of Choice or School of Choice the 2018-2019 school year in the Administration Building lobby, 100 N. University Drive in Fort Worth, through Friday, December 1.
All application submissions and supplemental documents are due no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 1, 2017. Incomplete applications will not be accepted, and supplemental documents cannot be scanned or faxed to the District. They must be submitted via mail or hand delivered to the FWISD Administration Building, located at 100 N. University Drive, no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 1, in order to be eligible for the lottery selection process.
Students are encouraged not to wait until the last minute to submit their applications.
“It’s best to come before Thursday and Friday, and if you come Thursday and Friday, be prepared to stay here a while,” said Karen Ponder, coordinator for FWISD programs of choice.
To speed up the process and better serve applicants, Mrs. Ponder is encouraging students who must submit additional documents in person to arrive with those documents and the confirmation page for their online application submission in hand. All applications require copies of report cards from two reporting periods, including the most recent report card, issued Nov. 15.
Students who have no additional documents to submit with their application need not worry about coming to the Administration Building. Applications can be submitted online.
To date, more than 4,000 students have submitted applications to the District for participation in Gold Seal programs and schools.
Applications for FWISD’s Gold Seal Programs of Choice and Schools of Choice programs are available at www.fwisd.org/choice. Students interested in participating in a program at their neighborhood are still required to apply.
Admission into the programs is based on a computer-generated lottery selection process. Families will be notified about admission the week of Feb. 5, 2018. After that, students may still apply but will be admitted only if there are available spaces in the program or at the school.
Gold Seal Programs of Choice and Schools of Choice appeal to student interests and passions and equip students with skills to thrive in college and the workforce. The rigorous program categories include engineering, agriculture, business administration, fine arts, government and law, health science, hospitality, marketing, public safety, technology, visual and graphic arts and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) just to list a few. The programs allow students to finish high school college-and-career-ready and with opportunities to obtain multiple college credits, licensures and certifications.
