Health and Safety Fair Set for Saturday
Fort Worth ISD’s Student Placement Center is hosting its annual Health and Safety Fair, Saturday, October 20.
From 9 a.m. to noon, families will be offered resources and information on health insurance, improving one’s overall health and much more. This free event, which promotes healthy lifestyles among FWISD families, will take place at Billingsley Field House, located at 1400 Foch St. Registration is not required.
There’s chances to win spectacular prizes, and free flu shots are available to the first 100 students. Breakfast is being provided to attendees by culinary students from Trimble Tech High School.
More than 35 vendors are slated to participate in the event which will include Ident-A-Kid, the nation’s largest child identification program, and other health screening services. The fair will also include a ballet foklórico performance.
“Promoting a healthy lifestyle is part of the foundation to ensure student succeed in school, hence preparing them for success in college, career, and community leadership,” said Felipe Ramirez, Student Placement Center home liaison specialist and counselor. “Health and safety is central to the physical and mental development of a young child, especially in cognitive areas that contribute to learning and reading abilities.
“Our department motto is ‘Whatever it Takes,’ and we truly take it to heart and ensure we do all that we can to better serve our families and students.”
The Student Placement Center registers and places a large number of students from all over the world who are new to the District.
