It was a great year for our SHHS Scorpion basketball program. Not only did the team make it to the playoffs for the first time in sixteen years but, also, individual players received many accolades for their hard work.
Jordan Averhart made District 6-5A All-District Second Team. According to Coach Bell, “Don’t let the baby face fool you. Jordan is a lock down defender and can get buckets with the best of them!”
Eric Smith made District 6-5A All-District Second Team. Eric led the team in charges and blocked shots and Coach Bell describes him as “a knock down shooter and monster rebounder”.
Anthony Watkins earned the title of Co-MVP of District 6-5A and made First Team All-District. Anthony received the honor of District MVP in Football and Basketball as well as making first team All-State at running back! Coach Bell describes Anthony as “possibly the best athlete in the state of Texas”.
Ke’Vion Kellum made Districts 6-5A All District First Team. Coach Bell proudly gives credit to Ke’Vion for the team’s success, “We were not a one man show this year and he is a huge reason why!”
Everyone at SHHS is very proud of the team and the basketball coaching staff for their work, enthusiasm, and perseverance. We know there are more great things to come!
