Photography Students Enter Nationwide Photography Project

CTE Photography Students      Workshop1      Workshop2

On Thursday, 1-19-17, CTE Photography teacher Shannon Oden and her students were visited by Brandon Thibodeaux, a Dallas photographer and representative of the non-profit, Working Assumptions in Berkeley, California. Brandon introduced the scope of the project we have been asked to collaborate on, a collective body of work with roughly 20 other schools in the nation in addition to the contributions of 40+ professional photographers including Annie Leibovitz!

Brandon not only presented the concept of the exhibition "work x family" but also led group activities encouraging the kids to identify and define what family and work mean to them and how it affects their own lives. Brandon then discussed his own work, especially a body of work he did for The Wall Street Journal documenting immigration in Mexico and life in a religious, low income area in Mississippi; the images were stunning. The kids were able to receive some great feedback and discuss great photographs.
