Tech Bulldogs: Back to School 2020-21

FWISD 9.28 The Fort Worth Independent School District has announced new plans for the start of the 2020-21 school year in light of the current COVID-19 global pandemic.

On Tuesday, July 21, the Tarrant County Public Health Department issued a joint control order with neighboring cities of Arlington and Burleson that all public, and non-religious private schools are not to re-open for face-to-face instruction or activities until Monday, September 28.

In light of today's announcement, Fort Worth ISD will conduct the first 6-weeks of classes online rather than in person. As of now, the first day of school will begin as scheduled on Monday, August 17. The school year will begin with online-only instruction.

FWISD Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner, has been meeting regularly with public health officials, as well as other local and state leaders on this matter.  Fort Worth ISD will join other Tarrant County school districts in following the decision of public health physicians to postpone in-person instruction until the last week of September.

“We believe the best place for a child to learn is in the classroom with a high-quality teacher,” Dr. Scribner went on to say. “We also know our current public health crisis is making that a challenge. We will bring students back to class once it is safe to do so.  Until then, our online instruction for the 2020-21 fall semester will be robust, organized, and a consistent experience for all students.”

Trimble Tech administration is working on plans for 2020-21 school year schedule pickup. It is undetermined, at this time, if schedules will be emailed/ mailed to students or if there will be a schedule pickup event on campus. Principal Ramos says the school will be contacting families once procedures for schedule pickup are in place.
