Gearing up for Summer Reading Fun!

Family event promotes literacy and physical activity for the summer

 

The Fort Worth ISD (FWISD) Student Placement Center invites families of bilingual/ESL students to attend the annual Family Literacy Celebration May 21.

 

Free books and information about summer activities and programs will be provided. There will be a wide range of book themes for students to choose from that will surely inspire their reading over the summer break!

 

Families will be delighted with a colorful performance by Ballet Folklorico Fort Worth, Inc. New to the event this year are public book readings in Spanish, English, and American Sign language for attendees. FWISD vendor Aramark will supply yummy muffins and drinks to stay hydrated.

 

Parents will learn about the variety of FWISD academic programs available for their students. District representatives will be on-hand to show parents how to access them.

 

There will also be information about summer adult education programs by Tarrant County College, Texas Christian University, and the FWISD. And to help keep everyone physically active this summer, the YMCA will be sharing tips!

 

This annual event is presented in partnership with Read Fort Worth and community partners, including the Fort Worth Library and Fort Worth Police, among others.

¡Preparándose para la lectura divertida de verano!

Evento familiar promueve la lectoescritura(alfabetización) y la actividad física para el verano

 

El Centro de Colocación Estudiantil de Fort Worth ISD (FWISD) invita a las familias de estudiantes bilingües/ESL a asistir a la celebración anual de lectoescritura/alfabetización familiar el 21 de mayo.

 

Se proporcionarán libros gratuitos e información sobre actividades y programas de verano. ¡Habrá una amplia gama de temas de libros para que los estudiantes elijan entre los que seguramente inspirarán su lectura durante las vacaciones de verano!

 

Las familias estarán encantadas con una actuación colorida del Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth, Inc. Lo nuevo en el evento de este año son las lecturas públicas de libros en español, inglés y lenguaje de señas americano para los asistentes. El proveedor de FWISD, Aramark, proporcionará deliciosos panecillos y bebidas para mantenerse hidratado.

 

Los padres aprenderán sobre la variedad de programas académicos de FWISD disponibles para sus estudiantes. Los representantes del distrito estarán disponibles para mostrar a los padres cómo acceder a ellos.

También habrá información sobre los programas de educación para adultos de verano de Tarrant County College, Texas Christian University y FWISD. Y para ayudar a mantener a todos físicamente activos este verano, ¡la YMCA compartirá consejos!
