See video of live demonstrations featuring students working with state-of-the-art technical equipment, medical labs, and more

Fort Worth ISD (FWISD) high school students learn real-world trade skills in the classroom that prepare them for high-demand careers. On Tuesday, Nov. 1, FWISD students demonstrated their skills at FWISD Vital Link Live, showing business and industry professionals they are their future workforce.

The event followed an open house format allowing participants to attend based on their availability. Live student demonstrations from FWISD Career and Technical Education (CTE), Pathways to Technology Early College High Schools (PTECH), and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) took place at the FWISD Teaching and Learning Center at 1050 Bridgewood Drive in Fort Worth. Business leaders had an opportunity to see students collaborate inside a STEM trailer and an AV production bus, interact at health science and biomedical technology labs, and prepare for a robotics competition.

“Our students are the future workforce, and we are getting them ready,” says Daphne Rickard, Executive Director of CTE. “We want organizations to see the great things happening at FWISD and the countless partnership opportunities available.” 

Over 15,000 FWISD students are participating in state-designated specialty programs. These programs focus on identifying and developing the students’ talents and providing opportunities to find their passion and the education that leads to high-wage, high-demand careers.
